The crimes regularly committed by the forces and troops trained by the AFRICOM could not be worse – even though it seems they have been buried by the officials and obscured by time.
The worst of all is that in this case the atrocities have been made by the Africans themselves who were carefully put under a wing of the U.S. Africa Command. A Congolese army unit, the 391st Commando Battalion that was coached by AFRICOM, has been systematically reverting to the acts of sexual violence at the battlefield.
As revealed by the UN report in 2013, the members of the Battalion were involved into a never-ending series of sexual perpetrations on a massive scale towards women and young girls in the east of Congo.
The report lines seem dry and objective but it is through those lines that the tears of the mothers and their daughters come through in the flow of utmost horror and fear. Those men who were trained by the AFRICOM rules were taught to destroy the most sacred of all – the family, just as they did with mine, they sear disrespect, violence and tragedy leaving hundreds and hundreds behind in silence of the crime that has no proper words to be described.
The report highlights the mass rapes were committed “in a systematic manner and with extreme violence,” leaving at least 102 women and 33 girls, some as young as six, violently abused. Could you imagine an animal that would abuse a 6-year-old girl? All of the sexual abuse committed by those trained by AFRICOM. Moreover, at least two people were executed, not to mention the mass looting conducted by the soldiers on a daily basis.
The only thing AFRICOM officials responded with was that they “cannot comment on the report details,” understandably, they do not want blood so visible to be on their hands.
What is left for those families who may have lost their mothers’ and daughters’ honor and health to those animals is only to pray and ask Lord to leave them burning in hell.
